The primarily objective of this
mission was the replacing of the Expedition Six crew after the U.S.
Space Shuttle crew was grounded while investigation due to the Columbia
accident were underway and the previously scheduled crew rotation
flight STS-114 could not take place on time . The Expedition Seven crew -
reduced to two members -took over the command of the station and the
old crew returned to earth with the Soyuz TMA-1 capsule . Soyuz TMA-2 replaced the TMA-1-craft as crew escape pod . |
