SOYUZ 23                      MANNED FLIGHT                                     USSR

Originally planned as long duration flight to  Salyut 5, the spacecraft failed in docking with the space station. An immediate touchdown went critical because the crew landed on frozen lake Tengiz during a snowstorm. The recovery crew wasnīt able to get the cosmonauts out of the capsule because the hatch was under water. At next morning a helicopter took the capsule and dragged it to shore.
